DAILY PROGRAM
Day 1: DEPARTURE
Arrival at Milan airport, welcome by our English speaking tour leader and coach transfer to the hotel located in the surroundings of Milan. Accommodation in a 4* hotel such as Hotel Neo in Bresso or IH Hotel Milano St. John in Sesto San Giovanni, or similar. Welcome drink. Dinner and overnight stay..
Day 2: MILAN
After breakfast, departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, guided tour of Milan, a superb modern metropolis with elegant architecture. The guide will lead you among the most famous places in the center, starting from the great Piazza del Duomo, dominated by the majestic Gothic cathedral, among the largest in the world. It is an impressing marble building, whose upper part is made up of spires, pinnacles and towers topped with statues. Visit of the interior of the Cathedral, immense and solemn, rich in marble columns and large paintings representing religious scenes. Behind the altar, in a vaulted ceiling, is hidden one of the cathedral's treasures, a nail from the Cross of Christ. Continue to the Gallery of Vittorio Emanuele II, a glass made gallery in Baroque and Neo-classical style. Then, road to the Sforza Castle, and external view of this medieval fortress, which successively became the residence of the brilliant ducal court of the Sforza family. The Castle is characterized by an imposing red brick architecture, and houses several art collections inside. A short walk in the beautiful Sempione Park, a haven of peace behind the castle. Finally, drive to the famous Teatro alla Scala Opera House, completely destroyed by a fire in 1775, and rebuilt on the church of Santa Maria de la Scala (possibility, optional at extra cost, to visit the small museum of the Theatre). Free time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, guided visit of the famous Pinacoteca di Brera, one of the richest art galleries in Italy. In its 38 rooms, it keeps masterpieces of Italian painting from the 13th to the 20th century. You will admire the Bellini's Pietà, Raphael's Marriage of the Virgin, Mantegna's Dead Christ, and Caravaggio's magnificent Emmaus Meal. Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: MILAN
Breakfast at the hotel, and departure by coach for a daily excursion with our tour leader. In the morning, road to Milan. Guided walking tour through the city center, and discovery of the Basilica of St. Ambrose, the patron saint of Milan. This church, founded by Saint Ambrose in the 4th century, is one of the most precious but at the same time more austere in the city, in Lombard-Romanesque style with pure lines, and decorated with beautiful mosaics from the 5th century. The relics of Saint Ambrose and the martyrs Gervase and Protais are kept under a silver shrine in the crypt. Continue to the Monumental Cemetery, a Neo-Gothic work from the 14th century, where the writer Alessandro Manzoni and the painter Francesco Hayez are buried. Then, a beautiful walk through the Navigli district, the charming canals of Milan, one of the most popular and lively places in the city, with a very suggestive atmosphere. Finally, discovery of the Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, one of the major basilicas in Milan. Its Roman-Byzantine style dates back to the period when Milan was the capital of the Roman Empire. Free time for lunch (not included). Afternoon free to stroll around the centre and do some shopping through the famous streets of the so called “Quadrilatero della moda ", or chance to make other visits to important museums, including Michelangelo's “The Last Supper" in the Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie (see supplement). Back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: DEPARTURE
Breakfast and, depending on the flight schedule, possibility to add other visits (optional, extra charge), see for example the centre of Como and its charming lake. Transfer by coach to Milan airport with our tour escort. Check-in assistance and end of our services.
The price includes:
• 3 nights accommodation on H/B basis in mentioned 4* hotels or similar, in double room

• The service of a professional English-speaking tour leader from/to the airport and for the whole duration of the tour, accommodation and meal costs included
